Ektaa Kapoor confirms Naagin movie, says popular TV franchise is heading to the big screen

Ektaa Kapoor has confirmed that her popular supernatural franchise Naagin is set to make the leap from television to the big screen. The filmmaker-producer made the announcement on the occasion of Nag Panchami, ending speculation about the future of the long-running franchise and revealing that a Naagin movie is in the works.

The announcement came on August 17, when Ektaa shared a cryptic post on social media wishing fans on Nag Panchami and teasing that "something exciting" was coming. She followed it up with confirmation that Naagin would not be returning to television in the same format this time, instead hinting at a cinematic outing for the beloved shape-shifting serpent franchise.

The development has generated considerable excitement among fans, particularly because Naagin has become one of Indian television's most recognisable supernatural properties since its debut in 2015. Created by Ektaa Kapoor and produced under Balaji Telefilms, the series has revolved around shape-shifting serpents, revenge, romance, family conflicts and supernatural powers. Its success has led to multiple seasons and several popular actors taking on the lead roles over the years.

While the announcement has confirmed that a movie is being planned, details about the film's cast, director, storyline and release date have not yet been revealed. The announcement had even prompted social media users to draw comparisons with Ekta's Naagin.
