Colors TV's upcoming fiction show Juhi Mui, starring Eisha Singh, has landed in the middle of an online debate even before its premiere. Soon after the makers released the first promo, several viewers began drawing comparisons between the new Hindi television series and the popular South Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, sparking discussions across social media platforms.
The promo introduces Eisha Singh as Juhi, an autistic young lawyer who possesses exceptional intelligence and an extraordinary ability to solve complex legal cases. While the concept intrigued many viewers, a section of the audience felt that the storyline, character traits, and even certain mannerisms appeared strikingly similar to those of Woo Young-woo, the lead character from Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
The comparison quickly gained traction on Reddit, where users expressed disappointment over what they perceived as a lack of originality. Several viewers argued that Indian television should invest more in fresh storytelling instead of drawing inspiration from already successful international shows. Others pointed out that the similarities became obvious the moment they watched the promo, particularly for audiences familiar with the Korean series.
Some comments also focused on Eisha Singh's portrayal of the character. A few users felt that the actress seemed to be emulating the performance style of Park Eun-bin, who won widespread acclaim for playing Woo Young-woo in the Korean drama. However, others defended the show, saying it was too early to judge and that the series deserved a chance before being labelled a remake.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which premiered in 2022, follows an autistic rookie attorney navigating challenges in a prestigious law firm while using her remarkable memory and analytical skills to solve difficult cases. The drama became a global hit and helped bring conversations about autism representation into mainstream entertainment.
According to the official synopsis, Juhi Mui tells the story of a sharp-minded autistic prodigy who often faces ridicule but rises to the occasion whenever justice is at stake. The series also stars Krushag Ghuge and Vijayendra Kumeria in key roles. Despite the criticism, some viewers believe the show could help create greater awareness about autism among Indian television audiences if handled sensitively. Juhi Mui is scheduled to premiere on June 29 on Colors TV and JioHotstar. Eisha was previously seen in Naagin 7.
