Content creator and actor Kusha Kapila has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the viral "Rs 370 biryani" remark made by a Gurugram man during comedian Pranit More's crowd-work show. The incident has sparked widespread debate online, with many calling out the comment as misogynistic and inappropriate.
The controversy began when audience member Himanshu Jangra shared a dating anecdote during More's show. In the now-viral clip, he recounted spending around Rs 370 on chicken biryani during a date and implied that he expected something in return because he had paid for the meal. The remark drew laughter from the audience and the comedian at the time but soon faced severe backlash once the clip spread across social media.
Reacting to the uproar, Kusha took to Instagram Stories and strongly criticized both the remark and the culture of normalising such comments under the guise of comedy. Encouraging women to speak out, she wrote, "Urge women to call out disgusting comedy plenty. Please darna mat. Bakwaas kiya hai toh drag karo badiya se."
She further argued that sharing such content online is a conscious decision and should not be dismissed as harmless humour. "Uploading a clip like that is a choice. Choosing to crack certain jokes and hosting that on your channel is a choice. This, by the way, is not comedy. This is content designed to get a reaction," she stated.
Kusha also expressed satisfaction over the fact that many women were openly condemning the incident. In a sarcastic remark referencing the controversy, she added, "I am so glad that so many women are calling it out... Aaj main apne paiso se order karke biryani khaungi."
The influencer additionally questioned attempts to distance the comedian from the controversy, arguing that creators must take responsibility for the content they choose to amplify.
Following the backlash, Pranit More issued a public apology, admitting that he should have challenged the audience member's remark instead of laughing and moving on. Meanwhile, Jangra also apologised, deactivated his social media accounts, and was later dismissed from his job at a Gurugram-based company.
As the debate continues online, the incident has reignited conversations around consent, accountability, and the responsibility of content creators in shaping public discourse.
