Television actor Ujjwal Sharma has broken his silence after facing allegations of mentally harassing his Saajan Ghar co-star Sanchita Ugale following her tragic death by suicide. The actor revealed that the accusations not only affected his professional life but also exposed him and his family to severe online abuse and death threats. His statement comes weeks after Sanchita's close friend, actor Indraxi Kanjilal, accused him of mistreating the late actress. The allegations remain unproven, and the police investigation into Sanchita's death is ongoing.

Ujjwal Sharma breaks silence on allegations

Speaking about the aftermath to Bombay Times, Ujjwal said, "My reputation was destroyed overnight. People started judging me without knowing my side of the story." He added that the social media outrage quickly spiralled into personal attacks, with many users branding him guilty before any official findings.

Recalling the difficult period, the actor shared, "I started receiving death threats. My family was dragged into it, and they were terrified. It was emotionally exhausting because I didn't even get a chance to speak." He said the constant trolling took a significant toll on his mental health and left him struggling to cope with the public scrutiny.

Following Sanchita's death in June, Indraxi alleged that Ujjwal had mentally harassed the actress, borrowed money from her and threatened her after she asked for it back. She also claimed Sanchita had raised complaints with the show's makers but felt no action was taken. Screenshots of alleged chats later surfaced online, though their authenticity has not been independently verified.

Responding to the allegations, Ujjwal maintained that he has cooperated with the authorities and believes the truth will emerge through the investigation. "I have faith in the legal process. I know what the truth is, and I am waiting for the investigation to conclude," he said, urging people not to form opinions based solely on social media narratives.

The actor also expressed grief over Sanchita's passing, calling it a heartbreaking loss. "What happened is extremely unfortunate. I pray for her family and hope they find strength during this difficult time," he said.

All about Sanchita Ugale's demise

Sanchita Ugale, known for her work in Kumkum Bhagya and Saajan Ghar, died by suicide in June. Her death sent shockwaves through the television industry and prompted calls for a thorough investigation. Police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding her death are still underway. Authorities have not established any criminal liability in connection with the case so far.

As the investigation continues, Ujjwal has appealed for restraint, requesting that people avoid reaching conclusions before the facts are established. The allegations against him remain unverified, and no court has found him guilty of any wrongdoing.
