Kushal Tandon has emerged as one of the most-talked-about contestants of Kunal Kemmu-hosted Alliance. As he continues to gain the limelight for his gameplay, his sister Tina Tandon, in an exclusive chat with mid-day, opened up about his unfiltered personality, him being targeted, his bond with Sohail Khan, and his past relationships.
Responding to the backlash Kushal Tandon has faced on the show, his sister defended him, saying he is often misunderstood because he wears his heart on his sleeve. She said, "He is exactly what you see on screen. He is very real. He is not fake. He is playing the game with no filters. People are targeting him because Kushal is the centrepiece of the show. It's not an Alliance show; it's a Kushal show. Everywhere, people are talking about him. I can clearly see that every newcomer entering the house has watched the episodes outside and knows where to get the TRPs from. He is an easy target because his patience is very easy to instigate."
Reacting to Sohail Khan not voting for Kushal during the ace task, Kushal's sister admitted she was as surprised as her brother. She said, "He got shocked because he trusts Sohail so blindly. Whatever calmness he is showing in this house is because of Sohail. Forget about Kushal, even I was shocked because I could never have imagined Sohail not giving his vote to Kushal. They have always seemed very close, so I really don't know how this happened."
Responding to allegations that Kushal Tandon isn't getting work, his sister Tina dismissed the claims, saying the actor has received several strong offers but has consciously chosen projects that align with his preferences. She further added that Kushal has even had channels agree to work on his terms, but he has remained selective about the projects he takes up.
Speaking about his Bigg Boss journey, Tina said, "He did Bigg Boss very early in his career. He chose it at such a young age, but I believe that wasn't the right time. He went in when he was young and very aggressive, but over the years, he has been choosing his work wisely."
Kushal Tandon's love life has often been under the spotlight, from his relationship with Gauahar Khan after Bigg Boss to his recent romance with Barsatein co-star Shivangi Joshi. Reacting to the constant chatter surrounding his relationships and break-up rumours, his sister Tina said celebrities deserve the same privacy as everyone else. She said, "It's a personal choice. I don't understand why a celebrity's love life or affairs are discussed so much. If there is a bond of respect, please respect their privacy. Why do you have to prove the girl was wrong or the boy was wrong? Some say narcissist, some say bully, but how do you decide that? It's not necessary that if there is a problem, it's the boy's fault. Just because he has that aura, swag, or dominant personality doesn't mean he is wrong."
After Lock Upp contestant Shreya Kalra claimed that Kushal Tandon had allegedly messaged her while he was in a relationship with Shivangi Joshi, his sister Tina came out in his defence. She said she intervened only because she felt Kushal's image was being unfairly tarnished. She said, "Why are you tarnishing his image for no reason? I have got some messages saying she is lying and that I should expose her. But I don't want to do all this because it's very unreal. I don't want to sabotage someone's image to clear one image. I had to step in because that was going too much. Please let him live."
