At least 17 birds killed or injured in kite-flying incidents in Delhi on I-Day

At least 17 birds were either killed or injured in separate incidents linked to kite-flying in the national capital on Independence Day, officials said.

Officials from the Delhi Fire Services said they received 17 calls reporting birds that had been injured or found dead between 2 pm and 9 pm on Saturday. The department did not specify the species of birds involved or provide a breakup of those injured and killed.

The incidents were reported as kite-flying activity continued across the city on Independence Day, with birds getting caught in kite strings. The fire services responded to the calls and attended to the reported cases, officials said.
