Mumbai Police recover 317 stolen and lost phones, gold and cash worth Rs 73 lakh, return it to rightful owners

Mumbai Police has recovered and returned stolen property including gold, ash and mobile phones worth more than Rs 73 lakh to their rightful owners, officials said.

The recovered items were handed over to complainants during a special property return event organised on Thursday.

The initiative was carried out as part of a focused drive to trace stolen and lost electronic devices and recover valuables involved in various criminal cases, they said.

317 missing mobile phones traced across states

Special teams from Mumbai Police worked across Mumbai, Maharashtra and neighbouring states to track down missing mobile phones.

The Zone 2 Cyber Cell, along with officers from LT Marg, Pydhonie, VP Road, DB Marg, Gamdevi and Malabar Hill police stations, played a key role in locating the devices.

A total of 317 mobile phones were recovered and returned to their owners. The estimated value of the recovered handsets is around Rs 47.55 lakh.

Gold, silver and cash returned to citizens

Apart from mobile phones, police also returned cash and precious metals recovered during different investigations.

The recovered valuables included:

- Cash worth Rs 5 lakh

- Gold weighing 117 grams, including three gold chains valued at Rs 16.79 lakh

- An additional 9-gram gold chain valued at Rs 1.23 lakh

- Silver weighing 1 kg and 107 grams, valued at around Rs 2.60 lakh

Police said the recovery drive helped restore valuable belongings and savings to citizens.

Senior officers praise police teams

The operations were conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 2, Ragasudha R.

The initiative was carried out with guidance from Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Manoj Kumar Sharma and Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region) Shailesh Balkawade.

Senior police officials appreciated the efforts of officers and personnel involved in tracking the missing property across different locations.
