The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in an official statement said that there will be a 10 percent water cut in several parts of Mumbai city and the eastern suburbs from Tuesday, January 27, to Saturday, February 7.
The water cut will be imposed for the annual maintenance work of the âpneumatic gate system', as per BMC. The statement issued by the civic authorities on Friday further highlighted that the maintenance work is essential for ensuring the smooth and safe functioning of the water supply system that caters to the city. As a result, water supply to most administrative wards in the city and eastern suburbs will be affected during the scheduled period.
The 10 percent water cut will also be in areas falling under the limits of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, which receive water supply from Mumbai civic body.

The Mumbai civic body statement said, "All citizens in the affected areas are requested to use water sparingly during this period as a precautionary measure and to cooperate with the municipal administration."
On Thursday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had announced a 24-hour water supply disruption in Mulund (West) and Bhandup (West).
Officials stated that the water cut was being implemented to repair and pipeline shifting work on the Vaitarna water supply system.
