A tense moment inside a residential tower in Mumbai's Malad was captured on CCTV after a pet dog allegedly lunged at three women inside a lift, causing panic among them.
The incident reportedly took place at a high-rise residential tower near Mittal College. According to people familiar with the matter, the dog suddenly became aggressive while the girls were travelling in the lift.
The women were visibly frightened as the dog allegedly attempted to pounce on them. However, the dog's owner quickly restrained the animal before anyone was injured.
The swift action prevented the situation from escalating into a more serious incident.
After the video surfaced online, the Malad Police took suo motu cognisance of the matter and traced the incident to the residential building.
Police officers visited the society and questioned the woman who owns the dog as part of their enquiry.
During verification, police found that the owner possessed all the government-required licences and documents for keeping the pet dog.
Police also confirmed that none of the women involved, nor any other resident, has filed a formal complaint.
