The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its manifesto for the January 15 Maharashtra local body elections to the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, outlining a roadmap to transform the powerloom hub into a modern, safe, clean and employment-oriented city, reported the PTI.
The manifesto, themed 'Developed Bhiwandi for Developed India', was unveiled at a public rally on Thursday by BJP state general secretary Madhavi Naik.
The party has promised cement concretisation of all major roads across the city. It also pledged to introduce 200 electric buses and ensure the speedy commencement of Metro Rail Line 5, connecting Bhiwandi with Thane, according to the PTI.
The manifesto outlines the implementation of cluster development projects alongside comprehensive slum rehabilitation schemes aimed at improving housing conditions and urban planning.
Acknowledging Bhiwandi's prominence in the powerloom sector, the BJP said it would establish a grand textile building. Special welfare schemes have also been promised for women working in the pearl industry.
The party pledged to ensure adequate water supply to every household. Civic schools in the area will be upgraded into high-tech digital institutions, according to the manifesto.
Environmental initiatives include a large-scale tree plantation drive targeting one lakh saplings. The party also proposed the deployment of anti-smog guns to curb air pollution and improve air quality.
Ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation Election 2026, the BJP unveiled its manifesto on Wednesday. The party has promised property tax waivers for economically weaker sections and sops for women, including concessions for them in metro rail and city bus fares in its manifesto, news agency PTI reported.
The manifesto, titled 'Sankalp Patra', was unveiled in the presence of the party's Pune Lok Sabha MP Murlidhar Mohol, state ministers Chandrakant Patil and Madhuri Misal, MLAs, and other leaders.
The party has promised free travel on Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) buses to citizens above 75 years of age along with concessions on fares to women on the city buses and Pune Metro, if it comes to power in Pune Municipal Corporation, PTI reported.
