In a challenging rescue operation, the forest department's wildlife rescue team from Nashik Division successfully saved a leopard cub that had fallen into a well at the Palase Sugar Factory near Nanegaon village in Nashik district late Monday night.

The rescue team, led by Sumit Nirmal, Range Forest Officer, Nashik, received a distress call at 8:00 PM and immediately sprang into action. Despite the difficult terrain and complex structure around the well, the team worked tirelessly to free the cub.

"We are happy to have successfully rescued the leopard cub," said Sumit Nirmal, RFO, Nashik. "The team's expertise and quick thinking were instrumental in saving the cub's life."

The cub, estimated to be a few months old, was safely lifted out of the well at 11:30 PM and is currently receiving treatment at the Wildlife Treatment Center in Nashik.

The rescue operation was carried out under the guidance of Siddhesh Savardekar, Deputy Conservator of Forest - West Nashik, and Prashant Khairnar, Assistant Conservator of Forest - Nashik.
