Maharashtra continued to witness a sharp contrast in weather conditions on Tuesday with intense heat prevailing in several regions while hill stations remained comparatively cool, according to IMD data.
In Vidarbha, heat conditions remained severe, with Brahmapuri emerging as the hottest in the state at 42.2 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Gondia at 42.0 degrees Celsius.
Other districts such as Akola (40.9 degrees Celsius), Nagpur (40.0 degrees Celsius), Wardha (40.9 degrees Celsius), and Chandrapur (40.4 degrees Celsius) also continued to sizzle under above-normal temperatures.
Marathwada too remained hot, with Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recording 39.2 degrees Celsius and Parbhani at 38.8 degrees Celsius, while Nanded and Beed saw warm conditions with temperatures hovering in the mid-20s to high-20s range at night.
In contrast, Konkan and coastal areas experienced relatively moderate conditions, with Mumbai's Island city recording a maximum temperature of 36.0 degrees Celsius and the suburbs at 35.1 degrees Celsius, both accompanied by humid conditions and no significant rainfall activity.
The coolest reading in the state was reported at Mahabaleshwar, where the minimum temperature dropped to 18.5 degrees Celsius, offering relief compared to the rest of Maharashtra.
Overall, Maharashtra continues to experience a mix of intense heat in Vidarbha, dry conditions in western Maharashtra, and mild relief in hill stations, with no widespread monsoon rainfall yet established.
