Parts of Maharashtra continued to experience hot weather on Saturday, with Vidarbha recording some of the highest temperatures in the state.
According to data issued from Pune (Shivajinagar), Yavatmal emerged as the hottest location with a maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius.
Hill station Mahabaleshwar recorded the lowest minimum temperature in Maharashtra at 19 degrees Celsius, providing relatively cooler conditions compared with the rest of the state.
Several places in Vidarbha and Marathwada also reported temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
Apart from Yavatmal, other hot locations included:
- Washim - 41.8 degrees Celsius
- Wardha - 41.5 degrees Celsius
- Brahmapuri - 40.7 degrees Celsius
- Chandrapur - 40.8 degrees Celsius
- Amravati - 40.4 degrees Celsius
- Akola - 40.1 degrees Celsius
In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded 39.6 degrees Celsius, while Dharashiv registered 37.8 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 30.1 degrees Celsius.
Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25.5 degrees Celsius.
The weather bulletin showed that Pune received no rainfall during the period under review. The city is currently facing a rainfall deficit of 66.4 mm compared with the seasonal normal of 66.4 mm.
Mumbai, during the early hours of Saturday, experienced partly cloudy skies. As the day progressed, the conditions became hot.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that hot and humid conditions across the city and suburbs are likely to continue.
The weather forecast agency also highlighted that there is no rain expected in the next 24 hours.
With hot and humid conditions likely to continue, temperatures on Saturday are likely to stay above seasonal comfort levels. The maximum temperature is likely to reach around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain close to 28 degrees Celsius.
The forecast indicates mainly clear skies during the morning, becoming partly cloudy towards the afternoon and evening.
Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning is expected in some areas.
