Mumbai civic body hosts 'admission festival' for pre-primary students

An 'admission festival' was held in pre-primary sections of CBSE-affiliated Mumbai public schools run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday, April 6, the officials said.

Senior officials and public representatives welcomed young students across different schools in Mumbai.

Students demonstrated their knowledge in subjects such as the galaxy, coding languages and artificial intelligence, reflecting growing exposure to modern learning tools, the officials said.

According to an official statement, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde welcomed students at the Rajawadi school in Ghatkopar.

At the Hariyali Village CBSE School in Vikhroli, Education Committee Chairperson Rajeshree Shirwadkar distributed gifts to children.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Avinash Dhakne visited the Natwar Parekh School in Govandi.

Interactive Sessions with Students

The statement said that at Rajawadi, the mayor joined a traditional lezim performance and interacted with students, encouraging them and learning about school facilities and activities from teachers.

In Dadar, Commissioner Ashwini Bhide interacted with students from pre-primary to secondary classes. She reviewed the academic progress of students from Classes 8, 9 and 10 and also visited school laboratories.

Focus on learning initiatives

The civic body's education department is running several initiatives, including 'Mission Admission and Mission Merit', it said.

The statement further stated that to promote interest in mathematics and science, a special programme called ‘Maths Thursday' has been introduced.

The department has also partnered with Khan Academy to strengthen learning outcomes.

Students showcase skills

Students demonstrated their knowledge in subjects such as the galaxy, coding languages and artificial intelligence, the statement said.

Officials praised their understanding and confidence. Primary students were also appreciated for their reading skills.

Student strength across schools

The Rajawadi school has 360 pre-primary students and 700 students from Classes 1 to 10, the statement said.

The Bhavani Shankar Road school in Dadar has 270 pre-primary students.

It said that the overall, the civic body runs 19 CBSE schools, with 142 pre-primary divisions serving 5,573 students and 279 primary divisions with 10,787 students.
