Hungry burglars get down to cooking khichdi and poha before robbery in Vasai; alert neighbours see the lights on in the bungalow and call up the cops in time

The burglars enter the bungalow past midnight while its owner is in Pune to celebrate Diwali

Digest this: two robbers, hoping to make a prized Diwali burglary from a bungalow in Vasai, were caught even before they could attempt the theft, all because they cooked khichdi and poha before they could get down to business. While one of them managed to flee the scene, cops have arrested the other.

Neighbour noses in
The duo entered the Parijaat bungalow located on Amabawadi Road in Vasai West around 12.30 am on October 29, when its owner Dr. Prashant Padhye was in Pune to celebrate Diwali. Soon after entering the bungalow the hungry twosome thought of treating themselves to a quality meal. They proceeded towards the kitchen to cook some khichdi and poha. Just when they were getting down to enjoying the meal, one of the neighbours found something amiss.

After finishing their meal, the thieves start stealing valuables and pocket a laptop and a camera

The neighbour noticed that the lights in the bungalow were switched on even though Padhye was not at home. He also noticed some suspicious movement along the house and then alerted local police station about a possible break-in.

A team from Manikpur Police Station rushed to the spot and surrounded the bungalow.
