Mumbai Deputy Mayor reviews civic works in Vikhroli, calls for faster execution of projects

Mumbai Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi on Wednesday reviewed ongoing desilting, cleanliness, and road development works in the Vikhroli area, directing civic officials to expedite pending projects and ensure better maintenance of public infrastructure.

Inspection of key civic works across Vikhroli

During the inspection visit, he assessed multiple civic works, including road development at Sainagar, the bridge constructed over a drain at Bharati Nagar, cement concrete road work at Swargiya Paresh Parkar Marg, and cleanliness measures around Siddhivinayak Temple, Jain Temple and Burhani Balwadi.

He also reviewed desilting and cleaning operations at Mashi Nala and Hariyali Nala, along with the proposed municipal hospital site at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, the Vikhroli-Jogeshwari link road, and connecting roads under the Valmiki Nagar slum rehabilitation project.

Local corporator Rajesh Sonawale, Deputy Commissioner (Zone 6) Santoshkumar Dhonde, Assistant Commissioner of ‘S' Ward Samreen Syed, and other civic officials were present during the inspection.

Instructions on road works and civic amenities

At Sainagar, where road works are currently underway, the deputy mayor instructed officials to complete the concretisation work and ensure proper handover thereafter.

He also interacted with residents of the Vighnahar slum rehabilitation project, directing officials to submit a proposal for improving access roads, developing a garden on available open space, and ensuring adequate street lighting in the area.

Review of Vikhroli-Jogeshwari link road project

Reviewing the Vikhroli-Jogeshwari link road project at the Valmiki Nagar slum rehabilitation site, he noted that the stretch from Santoshi Mata Road to the nala has been constructed as per civic standards. He also directed officials to hold discussions with MHADA regarding related issues.

Drainage and sanitation measures

During the inspection of the pedestrian bridge over the Bharati Nagar drain, the deputy mayor instructed that mesh be installed at the drain mouth to prevent waste inflow. He further ordered the regular removal of floating garbage from Mashi Nala to improve sanitation.

Garbage collection in two shifts

He also directed that garbage collection from bins at Siddhivinayak Temple, Jain Temple, and Burhani Balwadi be carried out in two shifts, morning and night, to ensure better cleanliness in the area.
