The Central Railway's Mumbai Division on Wednesday announced that it will operate a special traffic and power block during the intervening night of June 27-28 to facilitate the de-launching of an 'N' type truss at the south-east end (Karjat side) FOB for the ongoing 3rd and 4th line work between Kalyan and Badlapur stations.
The block will be in effect from 1.20 am to 3.50 am on June 28 on the Up and Down South East line between Kalyan and Vangani (excluding both stations), officials said.
Due to the block, suburban train operations between Kalyan and Karjat will remain suspended during the specified period. Several local train services will be cancelled, while a few will be short-terminated or short-originated.
Among the cancelled services are CSMT-Badlapur, CSMT-Ambarnath and Badlapur-Thane locals scheduled during the block window.
Additionally, select services will be short-terminated at Thane or originate from Thane instead of their usual terminals.
Central Railway said the last suburban train before the block from CSMT will be the CSMT-Karjat local departing at 11.30 pm on June 27, while the last service towards CSMT from Badlapur will depart at 11.29 pm the same night.
After the block, the first suburban services will resume progressively, including a Thane-Karjat local at 5.00 am on June 28 and other services from Karjat and Ambarnath towards CSMT in the early morning hours.
Several UP Mail and Express trains will be diverted via the Karjat-Panvel-Diva route, resulting in delays of around 10 to 20 minutes. These include Konark Express, Visakhapatnam-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express, Hyderabad-CSMT Express, and Hospete-CSMT Express.
Officials added that trains scheduled to halt at Kalyan will instead be provided halts at Panvel and Thane for passenger convenience during the block period.
Central Railway stated that the block is necessary for infrastructure upgrades linked to the 3rd and 4th line project, which aims to improve capacity and operational efficiency on the busy suburban corridor.
Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the railway administration during the maintenance work.
