Western Railway, while sharing Mumbai local train updates, on Friday announced that there will be no daytime block on its suburban section on Sunday, August 2, allowing local train services to operate normally during the day.
However, an overnight jumbo block will be carried out between Mumbai Central and Mahim stations to undertake essential maintenance of tracks, signalling systems and overhead electrical equipment.
According to Western Railway, the jumbo block will take place during the intervening night of Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2.
The maintenance work will be carried out on the Up and Down Fast lines from 12.25 am to 4.25 am on August 2.
The work forms part of routine maintenance aimed at ensuring the safety and reliability of suburban rail services.
During the four-hour maintenance window, all Fast line suburban trains will be diverted to the Slow lines between Churchgate and Santacruz stations.
Passengers travelling during the early morning hours have been advised to check train schedules and allow extra travel time if required.
Western Railway stated that no daytime block has been scheduled on Sunday and regular suburban train services will continue without maintenance-related interruptions throughout the day.
Railway officials have urged commuters to take note of the overnight arrangements and plan their journeys accordingly.
Meanwhile, the Central Railway has also announced a mega block on Sunday, August 2, 2026, to carry out essential engineering and maintenance work on the Mumbai suburban network.
The block will affect services on both the Main Line and the Harbour Line, with several trains being diverted, delayed or suspended.
Railway officials said the maintenance work is necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of the suburban railway network.
A mega block will be carried out on the up and down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund stations from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm, an official statement said.
It said that during the block, down fast trains leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.36 am and 3.10 pm will run on the slow line between Matunga and Mulund, stopping at all scheduled stations before returning to the fast corridor beyond Mulund. These services are expected to arrive around 15 minutes behind schedule.
