CCTV grab of the accused minors attacking Mohammad Ibrahim
A 45-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, was critically injured after being attacked with a knife by two underage boys in Mumbai's Cheeta Camp area on Sunday night. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. According to police, the assault appears to be linked to an old enmity. After the attack, the accused fled the scene.
Ibrahim was rushed to Sion hospital by his family, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is reported to be critical. "The knife attack seems to be connected to a past theft dispute," said a police officer, citing the statement of Ibrahim's 75-year-old father, Noor Mohammad Shah.
"In June 2023, a major theft took place at their residence. We had named two local boys as suspects and reported it to the police. Since then, tensions between the families have increased," Noor said in his statement. On the night of the incident, around 8 pm, female relatives of the accused allegedly gathered outside the complainant's house, hurled abuses, and threatened to kill the family for allegedly implicating their sons in the theft.
"Later, around 11 pm, the complainant heard a commotion. A tenant, who works as a tailor, rushed to inform him that something had happened. When he came downstairs, he found his elder son Ibrahim lying on the ground, bleeding heavily from his left side and abdomen," read the statement. "Ibrahim used to run a grocery shop in our colony. After dinner, he would often sit in the shop, which was later rented out to a tailor. On that night, he was watching the tailor ironing clothes when the two boys suddenly attacked him multiple times," said Ibrahim's younger brother, Imran Shah, 38.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the two minors had allegedly carried out the attack before fleeing. Family members provided first aid to Ibrahim and rushed him to Sion Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. "Based on the detailed complaint, we have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)," said Senior Inspector Rajesh Shinde from Trombay Police Station. He added that both minors have been detained and sent to a correctional facility.
