Heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Mumbai and neighbouring Thane on Wednesday, with parts of the city recording over 100 mm of rainfall in just seven hours, according to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
As per the BMC's rainfall update, the highest rainfall between 8 am and 3 pm was recorded at Pascoli Powai Municipal School in Powai, which received 118.4 mm of rain.
Other areas in the eastern suburbs that witnessed intense rainfall included Tagore Nagar Municipal School in Vikhroli (117.4 mm), Vikhroli Fire Station (115.8 mm), MCMCR, Powai (114 mm), and the Building Proposal Office in Vikhroli West (106 mm).

Mumbai's Powai Lake, one of the key artificial lakes in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area, began overflowing at around 5.30 am on Wednesday following heavy rainfall in the city.
The lake has a storage capacity of 545 crore litres and is used exclusively for industrial purposes. Its overflow marks a significant milestone in the monsoon season, reflecting the impact of sustained rainfall across Mumbai over the past several days.
Although it is not part of the city's potable water supply system, it plays an important role in meeting industrial water requirements.
The overflow comes as Mumbai continues to receive heavy monsoon showers, leading to rising water levels in lakes and reservoirs across the metropolitan region.
Civic officials said the lake started overflowing at approximately 5.30 am after reaching its full storage capacity.
Neighbouring Thane also received steady rainfall throughout the day.
According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation, the city recorded 71.59 mm of rainfall between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm on Wednesday.
The highest hourly rainfall during the period was recorded between 9.30 am and 10.30 am, when 16.77 mm of rain was received, closely followed by 16.76 mm during the next hour.
The city has received a cumulative rainfall of 482.93 mm so far this monsoon season, compared to 820.24 mm recorded during the corresponding period last year.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued monsoon activity over Mumbai, Thane and adjoining districts, with intermittent spells of moderate to heavy rainfall expected over the next few days.
