A 54-year-old constable suffered minor injuries when his bike was hit by a woman's car. The constable, attached to the Kandivli police station, was immediately taken to Shatabdi Hospital, where he received five stitches to his face.

The culprit, however, managed to flee the scene.

According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday, opposite Kandivli police station. The cop, Ashok Sankhe, was on his way to work. The unidentified woman, who was driving a Maruti Alto, was trying to overtake the bike on which Sankhe was riding pillion. In the process, she hit the motorbike, and the cop and rider were thrown off their seats.

The police managed to get the number of the car. The police have registered a case and are going through CCTVs in the area. "We have also forwarded the car's registration number to the Regional Transport Office," said Mukund Pawar, senior police inspector, Kandivli police station.
