The Tulinj police on Tuesday arrested a father-son duo and their friend for allegedly assaulting two traffic constables in Nalasopara. The altercation began after the constables stopped the accused, Parth Narkar, who was riding the scooter, and his friend Akash Panchal, for not wearing a helmet. Police said the incident occurred around 10 am on Tuesday near Sitara Bakery at Nagindas Pada, Nalasopara East. The entire incident was recorded on mobile phones by locals and bystanders at the spot.

According to the police, the constables had caught Parth and Akash, following which Parth called his father, Mangesh Narkar, who then arrived at the spot. The trio then beat the two constables after an argument broke out. The injured constables have been identified as Hanumant Sangle and Sheshnarayan Athare.

A video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows the trio attacking the officers on duty, landing punches and kicks to their faces. Speaking with mid-day, Senior Inspector Vijay Jadhav of Tulinj police station said, "Parth was riding the scooter, and Akash was the pillion rider. An argument broke out after the constables stopped them for not wearing a helmet."

"Parth was chewing tobacco, and while speaking to the constables, some of it fell on one of their uniforms. The constables fined him for the helmet violation, which further escalated the argument," added Senior PI Jadhav. Meanwhile, Parth called his father, Mangesh, who rushed to the spot.

"They then began assaulting the traffic constables in public for issuing a challan. The entire incident was captured on mobile phones by bystanders and later went viral on social media. We verified the video, which clearly shows the accused attacking the constables," said Jadhav. The accused trio has been arrested, and an FIR has been filed for assaulting traffic police constables on duty, the senior PI said.
