Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of a special drone show being organised at Shivaji Park on Sunday to commemorate the 135th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Authorities expect a large turnout for the event, which will feature a drone-based visual programme highlighting the life and legacy of Dr Ambedkar.
To manage crowds and ensure smooth traffic flow in the Dadar area, temporary traffic restrictions and diversions will remain in effect from 5 pm to 10 pm on Sunday, according to a notification issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters and Central), Traffic Police.
As part of the arrangements, Keluskar Road South and Keluskar Road North will remain closed for vehicular movement, except for invitees and authorised vehicles.
In addition, SK Bole Road will function as a one-way route from Siddhivinayak Junction towards Portuguese Church Junction during the restriction period.
Vehicular entry from Siddhivinayak Junction towards Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road near Yes Bank will also remain restricted.
Motorists travelling from Siddhivinayak Junction towards Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road have been advised to take a right turn at Siddhivinayak Junction and proceed via SK Bole Road, Gokhale Road, Gadkari Junction, LJ Road, and Raja Bade Chowk towards the western suburbs.
Similarly, vehicles approaching from Yes Bank Junction towards Siddhivinayak Junction should take a left turn at Yes Bank Junction and continue through Pandurang Naik Road, Raja Bade Chowk, LJ Road, and Gadkari Junction before heading towards Gokhale Road and South Mumbai.
Traffic police officers said the restrictions have been imposed under provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Mumbai Police regulations to prevent congestion and ensure public safety during the large-scale event.
Commuters have been urged to use alternate routes, avoid unnecessary travel near Shivaji Park during the evening hours, and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed in the area.
Mumbai Traffic Police have declared a temporary no-parking zone on a narrow internal road in the Mahim area to reduce congestion and ensure smooth movement for residents and emergency services.
The affected stretch is a small internal road connecting Shitladevi Road to Zinia Co-operative Housing Society. The road, reserved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), serves Buildings A and B of the society.
An official traffic notification, issued on Saturday, said that vehicles, especially two-wheelers, parked on both sides were causing serious obstruction, making it difficult for residents' vehicles to enter and exit.
The no-parking arrangement will remain in force on a temporary basis until July 10.
Parking of vehicles on both sides of the road will be strictly prohibited during this period, it said.
Traffic police officers have appealed to residents and commuters to follow the rules and cooperate with enforcement agencies. The measure is intended to prevent inconvenience and improve safety in the area.
