Mumbai weather update: City braces for hot and humid weather, temperature likely to touch 35 degrees Celsius

Mumbai is expected to experience partly cloudy skies and hot, humid weather conditions on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather department has forecast the maximum temperature to hover around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to settle near 29 degrees Celsius in the city and suburbs.

Mumbai records ‘good' air quality

Meanwhile, Mumbai's air quality remained in the ‘good' category on Tuesday morning. According to the Central Pollution Control Board's Sameer App, the city recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 46, indicating minimal health impact.

Among various monitoring stations across Mumbai, Kurla recorded the highest AQI at 85, followed by Deonar at 63 and Malad West at 57. Colaba recorded an AQI of 56, while Sewri stood at 50.

Other areas reported relatively cleaner air, with Powai recording an AQI of 16, Chembur 27, Bhandup West 34, Bandra Kurla Complex 36, and Ghatkopar 39.

Borivali East recorded an AQI of 46, Byculla 43, Andheri East 45, Kandivali West 43, and Mazgaon 45.

Air quality remains satisfactory across MMR

In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Thane recorded an AQI of 46, while Navi Mumbai registered 44, both falling in the ‘good' air quality category.

Maharashtra sizzles as Parbhani records season-high 43 degrees Celsius

Maharashtra continued to reel under intense heat on Tuesday, with several districts recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD's weather report issued at 8:30 am.

Parbhani recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 43 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Jalgaon at 42.5 degrees Celsius.

Aurangabad and Udgir also witnessed scorching conditions, recording 41.2 degrees Celsius and 41 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Heatwave-like conditions persist across interior Maharashtra

Sholapur registered 40.3 degrees Celsius, while Jeur touched 40 degrees Celsius. Osmanabad recorded 39.8 degrees Celsius and Ahmednagar logged 39 degrees Celsius, indicating continued heatwave-like conditions across parts of interior Maharashtra.

Mumbai records hot and humid weather

Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 35.3 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz registered 35.1 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity levels remained high, with Colaba recording 81 per cent humidity at 8:30 am.

Coastal areas witness relatively moderate temperatures

Coastal regions witnessed comparatively moderate temperatures. Ratnagiri recorded 34.1 degrees Celsius, Dahanu 36.7 degrees Celsius, and Alibag 36 degrees Celsius.

Mahabaleshwar remains coolest in the state

Among hill stations, Mahabaleshwar remained cooler at 29.5 degrees Celsius.

Night temperatures stay above normal in several districts

Minimum temperatures also stayed above normal in several districts. Sholapur recorded a minimum of 28.5 degrees Celsius, Mumbai-Santacruz 29 degrees Celsius, and Dahanu 28.1 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has indicated persistently hot and humid weather conditions in several parts of Maharashtra over the coming days.
