Mumbai weather update: Cloudy skies and light to moderate rain forecast across city and suburbs today

Mumbai is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall in the city and suburbs on Monday, according to the latest weather forecast issued at 8 am.

Cloudy conditions expected

The forecast indicates that rainfall is expected across both the city and suburban areas, with generally cloudy conditions prevailing through the day.

High tide at 4.18 metres

The next high tide in Mumbai is expected at 2:55 pm on August 17, when the tide is forecast to reach 4.18 metres. Another high tide of 3.85 metres is expected at 3:23 am on August 18.

The next low tide is expected at 8:55 pm on August 17, with the tide reaching 0.93 metres. A low tide of 1.85 metres is forecast at 8:50 am on August 18.

Rainfall recorded across Mumbai

Mumbai recorded relatively light rainfall in the 24-hour period from 8 am on August 16 to 8 am on August 17.

The average rainfall recorded was 1.50 mm in the city, 8.18 mm in the eastern suburbs and 5.00 mm in the western suburbs.

With light to moderate rain forecast, residents have been advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions, particularly during periods of heavier showers.

Meanwhile, Delhi is likely to experience heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Monday, according to the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Delhi is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius.

Several parts of western India may also face another spell of intense rainfall. An upper-air cyclonic circulation continues to persist over southwestern Rajasthan and adjoining areas, while another such system is present over the northwestern Bay of Bengal, influencing weather conditions across several regions.

The IMD has issued alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in 19 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Wind speeds of up to 80-85 kmph are likely in some areas, while isolated hailstorms have also been forecast in parts of the country.
