While the water crisis continues to create havoc across Mumbai and the suburbs amid the El Nino, the city on Wednesday is likely to witness a partly cloudy sky with hot and humid weather conditions.
As per the India Meteorological Department, Mumbai will experience warm temperatures throughout the day, with little rainfall activity recorded across the city and suburbs.
While isolated showers may provide brief relief, weather officials have indicated that humidity levels will remain high, making conditions uncomfortable across much of the city throughout the day.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 35.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to remain close to 29.3 degrees Celsius.
Even as weather conditions remained humid, Mumbai's air quality continued to stay within the "Satisfactory" category on Tuesday.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) SAMEER application, the city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 52.
An AQI between 51 and 100 is classified as satisfactory, indicating that air quality is generally acceptable and poses little or no health risk to most residents.
Air quality readings across various monitoring stations in Mumbai remained largely stable.
Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 63, while Byculla reported 69. Chembur registered an AQI of 48, and Kandivali recorded 43. Navi Mumbai and Thane also remained within the satisfactory category with AQI readings of 59 and 64, respectively.
Among the city's cleaner locations, Borivali recorded an AQI of 44, placing it in the "Good" air quality category. CSMIA T2 of 31, while Kherwadi recorded 48, both of which were also close to the good category threshold.
The latest readings indicate that air quality has remained relatively stable not only in Mumbai but also across the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
Environmental experts attribute the satisfactory air quality levels to favourable atmospheric conditions and periodic rainfall activity, which helps reduce the concentration of airborne pollutants.
According to CPCB guidelines, AQI values between 0 and 50 fall under the "Good" category, while readings between 51 and 100 are considered "Satisfactory". Both categories indicate minimal health concerns for the general public.
With light rain likely and humidity expected to remain high, Mumbai residents can anticipate a mix of cloudy skies, warm temperatures and occasional showers over the coming days, while air quality is expected to remain within acceptable limits.
