Mumbai is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky across the city and suburbs on Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department has forecast warm and humid conditions to continue, with temperatures remaining above comfortable levels. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius.
According to IMD observations recorded on June 14, Colaba reported a minimum temperature of 30.1 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz recorded a minimum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.
Some parts of the city received light rainfall, though precipitation remained limited and did little to bring down temperatures.
Despite the possibility of isolated showers, humidity levels are expected to remain high, making weather conditions uncomfortable across Mumbai.
Residents are likely to experience warm and muggy conditions throughout the day, with only brief relief from cloud cover and occasional rainfall. Weather officials have advised citizens to remain prepared for sudden changes in conditions, particularly during the afternoon and evening when localized thunderstorm activity could develop.
Even as humid weather persists, Mumbai's air quality continued to remain within the "Satisfactory" category on Sunday.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) SAMEER application, the city's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 57. An AQI in this range indicates generally acceptable air quality and minimal health concerns for most residents.
Air quality levels across major monitoring stations in Mumbai remained largely stable.
Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 69, while Kandivali reported 62. Borivali registered an AQI of 53 and Byculla recorded 77. Ghatkopar reported an AQI of 81, while Colaba stood at 69.
Andheri recorded an AQI of 53, making it one of the locations closest to the "Good" air quality category.
The readings suggest that air quality has remained relatively stable across the city despite fluctuating weather conditions.
Several locations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also recorded satisfactory air quality levels.
Thane reported an AQI of 70, while Navi Mumbai registered 59. Both readings fall within the satisfactory category, indicating controlled pollution levels across the wider metropolitan region.
As per CPCB guidelines, an AQI between 51 and 100 is classified as "Satisfactory", indicating minor or no health concerns for the general population. AQI values between 0 and 50 are categorised as "Good" and signify cleaner air with minimal health impact.
With only isolated rainfall activity predicted, no major weather-related disruptions are expected across Mumbai on Sunday. However, residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against prolonged exposure to heat and humidity, especially during afternoon hours when temperatures are expected to peak.
The IMD will continue to monitor weather conditions, with forecasts indicating a mix of cloud cover, humidity and occasional light showers over the coming days.
