Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the latter's official residence in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The meeting drew political attention as the two senior leaders held discussions behind closed doors.

There was no immediate official statement from either side on the agenda or outcome of the meeting.

The meeting comes amid discussions over Pawar's recent interactions with leaders from the ruling alliance in Maharashtra.

Meeting with Shinde creates political buzz

Speculation over Pawar's political position intensified after he met his party MLAs at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's office at the Vidhan Bhavan complex last week, as per the PTI.

Pawar had also welcomed the Mahayuti government's decision to relax farm loan waiver norms.

The developments led to questions over whether the NCP (SP) could reconsider its political alignment.

Eknath Shinde leads delegation

Meanwhile, six Members of Parliament (MP) from the Shiv Sena, who recently joined the party from the Uddhav Thackeray (UBT) faction, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The delegation was led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shiv Sena parliamentary party leader Dr Shrikant Shinde also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the MPs discussed pending development works in their respective parliamentary constituencies and sought the Centre's support to speed up their implementation, an official statement issued by Shinde's office said.

The delegation requested assistance for projects under the Central Government, including infrastructure development and the release of funds required to complete key public welfare initiatives.

Amit Shah assures Centre's support

According to the Shiv Sena, Amit Shah welcomed the six MPs and assured them that the Central Government would extend all possible support for development projects in their constituencies.

He also said there would be no shortage of financial assistance or other support required for implementing public welfare schemes and infrastructure projects, the statement said.

Emphasis on faster development

The meeting focused on improving coordination between the state and Central governments to accelerate development works in the six constituencies represented by the newly inducted Shiv Sena MPs.

Party leaders said the discussions were aimed at ensuring that pending projects are completed more quickly for the benefit of local residents.
