The mother of the 17-year-old accused of the Pune car crash has asked the police to protect her son after a fake video of him boasting about the incident has gone viral. In a video message, the accused's mother was seen stressing that the viral video was not of her son and was completely fabricated, reported PTI.

According to the report, speaking about the fake video concerning the Pune car crash, the teen accused's mother said, "The video which is being circulated is not of my son. That is a fake video. My son is in the detention centre."

The mother felt tearful while asking for her son's protection and had to step away from the camera, stated the PTI report.

According to the report, the viral video, which featured a rap song and someone claiming to have avoided punishment for the crash, was ultimately identified as a social media influencer rather than the accused of the Pune car crash.

The Pune car crash included a Porsche, allegedly driven by the 17-year-old, colliding with and killing two software engineers riding motorcycles in Pune early Sunday morning. Police allege the boy was intoxicated at the time.

The accused was first given bail by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) on the condition that he write a 300-word essay, help traffic police for 15 days and seek counselling for his addiction to alcohol but was then remanded to an observation home until June 5, following public uproar and a police review petition. The teenager's father was also detained in connection with the case.

Pune car crash: Grandfather of the teen grilled by cops

On Thursday, the Pune cops grilled the grandfather of the teen accused; the police summoned him in connection with the Pune car crash case in connection with the offence registered against Vishal Agarwal (50), the juvenile's father, the staffers and owner of two establishments that served the accused liquor.

Vishal was arrested on Tuesday evening under the Juvenile Justice Act and has been remanded to police custody for handing over his car to his underage son, thus exposing him to danger.
