IndiGo has announced the temporary suspension of flights to six international destinations, including Hong Kong, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, citing softer travel demand and a challenging operating environment.

The airline said services to Langkawi (Malaysia), Krabi (Thailand), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Hong Kong, and Shanghai (China) will be suspended from July 1, while flights to Siem Reap (Cambodia) will be halted from July 3.

According to IndiGo, the suspension will remain in effect until September 30. Bookings for all affected routes are expected to resume from October 1, although the airline said services could be restored earlier if market conditions improve and operational requirements permit.

"IndiGo will resume bookings for all the impacted services starting October 1, 2026. However, should the environment become favourable, IndiGo stands prepared to reinstate these services earlier than scheduled, with appropriate lead time," the airline said in a statement.

Despite the temporary network adjustment, IndiGo said it will continue operating more than 1,800 international flights every week across its global network.

The airline described the move as a calibrated capacity-management measure aimed at aligning operations with current demand trends while maintaining network stability and service reliability.

IndiGo cites demand trends, rising costs and airspace restrictions for route suspension

"These measured changes are designed to align capacity with current market conditions and demand trends, while ensuring the airline maintains reliability and network integrity across its global destinations," the statement said.

IndiGo added that it continues to face elevated operating costs and ongoing airspace restrictions, factors that have influenced its decision to temporarily realign capacity on select international routes. The airline further stated that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and assess market conditions before taking further decisions on the affected services.

The carrier said that affected passengers will be informed directly about changes to their bookings and advised travellers to check the latest flight schedules before making travel plans.

The airline also stated that the temporary suspensions reflect a proactive approach to capacity management aimed at ensuring operational efficiency while minimising disruptions during a period of volatility in the aviation sector.
