Jharkhand tragedy: Bodies of three girls found floating in pond at Simdega district

A horrifying discovery in Simdega, Jharkhand, has left the local community in shock as the bodies of three girls aged 5 to 7 were found in a village pond. Police suspect drowning, but a detailed investigation and post-mortem are underway to determine the exact cause of death

In a horrific scenario in Jharkhand's Simdega district, the bodies of three girls were found floating in a pond, as per the police officials. The incident happened at Nimtur village under the Bano police station limits on Monday and created a frenzy around the locality.

As reported by news agency PTI, the police officials suspect that the children who were found floating in the pond are aged between 5 and 7 years old and somehow went to the water body and drowned.

Bano police station in charge Manav Mayank said the bodies were recovered from the pond on Sunday late evening.

While emphasising the incident, Manav Mayank said, "Prima facie, it appears that the girls died due to drowning. The actual cause of the incident will be determined after a thorough investigation and postmortem," as cited by news agency PTI.

The deceased have been identified as Premika Kumari (5), Khusboo Kumari (6) and Seema Kumari (7), as reported by news agency PTI.

While the three children were found dead in a pond, the family members of the children said that they were not at home when the incident occurred.

The families of the deceased children said that when they did not find their children at home after returning late in the evening on Sunday, they started searching for them.

As reported by the news agency, during the intensified search operation in view of finding the lost children, the police officials spotted one body floating in the pond.

However, after discovering one of the bodies floating in the pond, the other two girls were also retrieved from the pond with the help of the villagers and taken to the Bano community health centre. As soon as the deceased were taken to the hospital, the doctor declared them dead.

Five killed in separate road accidents in Jharkhand's Dumka

In a different scenario, five people died in separate road accidents in Jharkhand's Dumka district within 24 hours. As reported by news agency PTI, two persons were killed near Belmi More under the jurisdiction of Muffasil police station on the Dumka-Ramgarh road around 8 pm on October 12.

Satyam Kumar, the officer in charge of Muffasil police station, while speaking about the incident, said, 'A speeding dumper truck ran over a motorcycle with two persons near Belmi More. The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained. The bodies will be sent for post-mortem examination on Monday morning.
