Nashik bus accident: One dead, six injured after luxury bus overturn

One person was killed and six others were seriously injured when a private luxury bus overturned in Yeola taluka of Maharashtra's Nashik district in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.

According to the PTI, the ill-fated bus, with around 30 passengers on board, was on its way to Jalgaon in north Maharashtra from Pune when the accident occurred around 4:30 am in Somthanjosh Ghat near Rajapur village, the officials said.

As per preliminary reports, the bus overturned as its driver lost control. Furthermore, the accident led to chaos and panic among the passengers.

One dead; six severely injured

After being informed, a team of Yeola taluka police immediately rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of the local residents. They shifted the passengers to a local hospital.

A police official, while briefing about the horrific accident, said that one person has lost his life while six others have been seriously injured, as per PTI. He also added that the injured are currently receiving treatment at the Rural Hospital in Nandgaon.

Three warkaris killed in Pune accident

In a separate incident in Pune, three women participating in the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession were killed and seven others injured after a truck rammed into a group of warkaris near the Belsar toll naka on the Saswad-Jejuri road in Pune district earlier on July 13.

The accident occurred near the Belsar toll naka on the Saswad-Jejuri road when a truck accompanying a wari procession allegedly hit a group of warkaris participating in the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession. Police are investigating the incident.

Maharashtra leaders express grief over Jejuri wari tragedy

Several Maharashtra leaders expressed grief over the incident. Calling the accident "extremely heartbreaking," Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to the deceased pilgrims.

He said the injured had been admitted to a nearby hospital and were receiving treatment.

"The tragic death of three Warkaris in an accident near Jejuri in Pune district is an extremely heartbreaking incident. Senior officials rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information, and we are continuously monitoring the situation," Fadnavis said in a post on X.
