Nand Kishore Goenka, the father of Zee-Essel Group Chairman and former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Subhash Chandra, passed away on Monday at the age of 96, prompting condolences from political leaders across party lines.
Announcing the demise in a post on social media platform X, Subhash Chandra said his father breathed his last on Monday morning and remembered him for a lifetime dedicated to social service, cow protection and national service.
"Today morning our beloved father Nand Kishore Goenka breathed his last. Though all in family are saddened, my desire is to celebrate his 96 year's life, which was full of samaj seva, cow seva, and national service as RSS swayamsevak," Chandra wrote.
Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over Goenka's demise, describing the news as "extremely heartbreaking".
He said Goenka had been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from an early stage and remained devoted to social causes throughout his life.
"He remained ever committed to the service of cows. He fulfilled his social responsibilities by staying away from business. He was always active in service to the Agrawal Samaj and played a pivotal role in the development of Agroha," Fadnavis said in a post on X, while offering his heartfelt tribute.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini also condoled the death, praying for strength to the bereaved family and well-wishers to bear the loss.
Among the other leaders who expressed their sorrow over his death was Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule.
"Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Shri Nand Kishore Goenka, father of Dr. Subhash Chandra, Chairman of Zee Essel Group. My heartfelt condolences to Dr. Subhash Chandra ji and the Goenka family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace," she said in a post on X.
Goenka was widely known for his social work and his association with the RSS. According to tributes shared by political leaders, he remained actively involved in community service and initiatives related to the Agrawal community and the development of Agroha, Haryana, throughout his life.
