Operation Sindoor: India's tolerance should not be mistaken, says NSA Ajit Doval

More than a year after Operation Sindoor, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has shed light on the strategic decision-making behind the anti-terror operation, stressing that India's tolerance should never be viewed as weakness.

In his first interview since Operation Sindoor, Doval shared insights in the docuseries Declassified: Operation Sindoor, which chronicles the intense 88-hour military conflict that followed the Pahalgam terror attack, including its high-stakes battles and aftermath, reported IANS.

‘Objective was destruction of enemy camps'

In the docuseries, Doval said, "We had decided the objective of the operation as destruction of the enemy camps, particularly those who had been responsible for the Pahalgam attack."

The NSA added, "The message to the world is very clear, India's generosity or India being tolerant should not be mistaken for its weakness. India can take risks, India can hit hard, irrespective of the consequences."

Operation Sindoor launched after Pahalgam terror attack

Launched on May 7, 2025, Operation Sindoor was carried out in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

The precision strikes by Indian forces during the operation, followed by a response to Pakistan's offensive, including drone attacks, demonstrated India's capability to target multiple terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The operation was temporarily halted on May 10 after the two sides reached an understanding.

Doval's remarks on Operation Sindoor in the docuseries will enter the public domain on Saturday, the 80th Independence Day, when the television programme airs.

President Murmu also highlights Operation Sindoor

Earlier, on the eve of the 80th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu also referred to Operation Sindoor and the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling them decisive actions against terrorists and their harbourers.

According to IANS, the President said, "During the commemoration of one year since the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, we remembered the unmatched valour of our armed forces."

"That historic operation against terrorism demonstrated the capability of Indian armed forces to act with precision. It sent a clear and firm message to terrorists and those who support them that no matter where they hide, they will have to face the consequences of their actions," she added.

Murmu calls Indus Waters Treaty suspension a decisive step

Referring to the Indian government's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, President Murmu said, "Suspension of the Treaty with a country that harbours terrorism is a decisive step in the interest of our nation, especially the farmers."
