Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Italy has sparked a meme fest online, with social media users flooding platforms with jokes, AI-generated videos and edited clips centred around his interactions with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
As both leaders continue discussions under the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029, the internet has shifted its attention to the now-viral "Melodi" trend.
The viral "Melodi" trend, a blend of "Modi" and "Meloni", gained further momentum after PM Modi gifted Meloni a pack of "Melody" toffees during the visit.
Several memes and AI-generated videos featuring the two leaders have gone viral on X. One widely shared clip recreated the iconic romantic scene from the Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, imagining PM Modi and Meloni in the lead roles.
Another viral post joked about India's diplomatic style, stating:
"America gives sanctions
China gives tension
India gives Melody toffee"
The meme further humorously added:

The meme frenzy intensified after PM Modi gifted Italian PM Giorgia Meloni a pack of "Melody" toffees during his visit. Meloni later shared a cheerful post on X thanking the Prime Minister for the gift, further fuelling the online trend.
Social media users quickly connected the gift to the viral "Melodi" nickname, with hashtags such as hashtag Melodi and hashtag MelodiStory trending across platforms.
During the visit, PM Modi also shared a post on X about his meeting with Meloni in Rome.
"Upon landing in Rome, had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Meloni over dinner followed by a visit to the iconic Colosseum. We exchanged perspectives on a wide range of subjects. Looking forward to our talks today, where we will continue the conversation on how to boost the India-Italy friendship," he wrote.
