Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Indian technology and the âMade in India' initiative were behind the success of Operation Sindoor which brought Pakistan to its knees in a few hours. The world for the first time saw the new face of India during Operation Sindoor when it demonstrated its ability in destroying the terror hubs deep inside Pakistan, he said. He said that there was a major role of Bengaluru and its youth in Operation Sindoor.
The PM underlined that Bengaluru is identified with big cities of the world. Noting that India has to not only compete globally, but also has to lead, he said, "We will progress only when our cities are smart, fast and efficient." In this context, he said his government's emphasis has been on completing modern infrastructure. "Urban planning and urban infrastructure are much needed in the 21st century and we have to make cities like Bengaluru future ready," the PM said.
Vande Bharat trains
PM Modi on Sunday flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains here on Sunday. While the much-awaited Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Modi in person; the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Amritsar, and Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune Vande Bharat services, were launched virtually. The Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express will be the 11th Vande Bharat service to operate in Karnataka. Covering 611 km in just 8.5 hours, it is the fastest train between these two cities, saving approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from KSR Bengaluru to Belagavi and 1 hour 40 minutes from Belagavi-KSR Bengaluru compared to existing services, Railway officials said.
PM inaugurates Metro line
PM Modi on Sunday inaugurated the yellow line of Bangalore Metro Rail, which is expected to ease traffic congestion in several heavily congested corridors connecting the city's IT hub. The PM also took a metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City metro station and he interacted with students during the journey. With the opening of the yellow line, the operational metro rail network in Bengaluru will increase to over 96 km serving a large population in the region. He also laid the foundation stone for Phase-3 of Bangalore Metro Rail project worth over Rs 15,610 crore.
