PM Modi to unveil 77-ft statue of Lord Ram in Goa on November 28

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a 77-foot-tall bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Jeevottam Mutt in the South Goa district on Thursday.

A Mutt representative, while briefing about Modi's visit, addressed that the Prime Minister will arrive at the venue at 3.45 pm. Shrinivas Dempo further said that a special helipad has been constructed in the premises of the mutt, as reported by news agency PTI.

Noting that the arrival of the Prime Minister in Goa marks great significance, Public Works Department minister Digambar Kamat further asserted that "the 77-foot statue of Shree Ram would be unveiled at the hands of the prime minister. Sculptor Ram Sutar, who designed the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, has made the statue of Shree Ram. This would be the tallest statue of Shree Ram in the world," as quoted by news agency PTI.

The Mutt representative further said that Prime Minister Modi will visit the temple located in the mutt before addressing a public meeting.

He also added that along with the Prime Minister, Goa Governor Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, and other state cabinet ministers will also be present for the function, reported PTI.

Dempo, while briefing about the ongoing programmes in Goa, said that there are various events being held from November 27 to December 7 to mark the 550 years of the mutt tradition. The Mutt premises in Goa was constructed at Partagal village in Canacona (South Goa district) 370 years ago.

He further added that "Several programmes are planned to be held during these days, and 7,000 to 10,000 people are expected to arrive at the mutt premises every day," as per PTI.

Kamat said the premises of the mutt, serving as a spiritual centre for ages, has been completely refurbished and given a modern look.

Before leaving for Goa, the Prime Minister is in Hyderabad during the early hours of Thursday. While speaking at Skyroot's Infinity Campus in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister said, "India will emerge as a global leader in the satellite launch ecosystem," as per PTI.
