Mamata meets Sonia amid rebellion in Trinamool Congress

Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi at her 10, Janpath residence here.

The meeting comes in the wake of a rebellion within the TMC, with several party MPs deciding to form a separate group and align with the ruling NDA.

A majority of TMC (80) MLAs have already formed a separate group led by Ritabrata Banerjee as the LoP in the state Assembly.

CID reaches Mamata's residence

A CID team on Tuesday reached Trinamool Congress's central party office-cum-residence of Banerjee in Kalighat area here as a part of its probe into the controversy surrounding alleged forged signatures of TMC MLAs, which has triggered a split in the party.
