Yogi Adityanath attacks Congress, SP, accuses them of following Jinnah's ideology

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), accusing them of following the ideology of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and alleging that they seek to divide society for political gains. The remarks came while he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 89 development projects worth Rs 581 crore in Shamli.

'Development has no alternative'

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said development remains the only path to progress and alleged that parties inspired by Jinnah's ideology create divisions based on caste and regional identities whenever they get an opportunity.

He also accused the Opposition of promoting anarchy and weakening the security of women, traders and society for electoral gains.

Contrasts pre-2017 and present-day Uttar Pradesh

Highlighting the BJP government's achievements, the Chief Minister said Shamli, once associated with crime, migration and law-and-order concerns, has undergone a significant transformation since 2017.

He claimed that before the BJP came to power, development had stalled and residents faced poor electricity supply, inadequate healthcare and security challenges. According to him, improved governance and infrastructure have changed the district's development trajectory under the "double-engine government".

Focus on infrastructure and economy

Yogi said the convergence of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Shamli-Ambala Expressway and the proposed Shamli-Gorakhpur Expressway would turn the district into a major growth centre for western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the state's progress in agriculture, saying Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the country's leading producer of sugarcane, sugar and ethanol. He said 122 sugar mills are currently operational and claimed that sugarcane farmers are now receiving Rs 400 per quintal, with payments becoming more efficient than in previous years.

Pays tribute to Shamli's historical legacy

CM Yogi also recalled the role of Shamli and neighbouring Kairana during the 1857 Revolt, describing the region as an important centre of India's freedom struggle. He further said the area has contributed significantly to India's rich tradition of classical music.

The Chief Minister's remarks come ahead of key political engagements in the state, with both the ruling BJP and Opposition parties intensifying their campaigns and public outreach.
