A massive 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Japan late Monday, triggering tsunami warnings, evacuations, and widespread overnight panic. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) warned waves could reach up to 3 meters as more than 90,000 people were ordered to move to higher ground. Early tsunami waves were recorded along the northern coastline, and officials say stronger aftershocks—including a potential “megaquake”—may follow in the coming days.
