<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-nz-t20is-bhuvneshwar-kumar-eyes-two-news-records-ahead-of-series-against-new-zealand-23656053" rel="nofollow">Team India</a> is set to take on New Zealand in the multi-format series. The five-match T20I series between the teams will begin from October 22.
Ahead of the series, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/hungry-motivated-shami-is-still-one-of-the-best-23648581" rel="nofollow">veteran pacer Mohammed Shami</a> was left out of India's squad despite delivering performances in domestic cricket. The pacer said that he is focused on performing well and sharpening his skills.
"I'm always positive and focused on performing well in every match I play. I want to keep playing as many matches as possible because that helps me maintain my physical momentum, improve my game, and sharpen my skills. That's what I'm focused on right now. What more can I do than keep playing and giving my best?," he said.
The 36-year-old cricketer then revealed that he has stepped away from social media and wants to invest his energy and time in practice sessions.
"I'm focused entirely on my own game and don't really concern myself with what others are doing. My priority is to fulfil whatever the team and the game demand of me. I've also completely stepped away from social media, as I don't like spending too much time browsing it. Instead, I'm focusing on being on the ground, putting in the hours during practice sessions, and playing as many matches as possible this season. That's where I want to invest my time and energy," said Shami.
The first clash is scheduled to be played on October 22 at the Hagley Park South in the central city of Christchurch. The second <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-nz-1st-t20i-new-zealand-jacob-duffy-heaps-praise-on-team-india-bhuvneshwar-kumar-23656032" rel="nofollow">T20I</a> match will be played on October 24 at the same venue. The third T20I match is scheduled to be played on October 27 at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington, followed by the fourth game on October 30 at the Eden Park in Auckland. The Seddon Park in Hamilton will host the fifth clash on November 1.
