Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt gets engaged to Kasi Bennett

Eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt doubled the celebrations on his 40th birthday on Friday, August 21, by getting engaged to his long-time partner, Kasi Bennett, 36.

According to Jamaican publication Jamaica Observer, Bolt, dressed in a chequered beige suit, proposed to Bennett, who wore a gold dress with silver sequins, with a five-carat diamond ring at a private gathering attended by close family and friends in Kingston.

Bolt began dating Bennett, a Jamaican model, in 2013, but the couple kept their relationship private for three years before making their first public appearance together at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Bolt went on to win three gold medals at those Games - in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

Interestingly, in a 2016 interview with People magazine, Bolt had said that he wanted a relationship similar to that of his parents, Wellesley and Jennifer, who dated for 10 years before tying the knot. "I want to take time to make sure everything is perfect," Bolt had said.
