India beat Chinese Taipei to seal Thomas Cup medal

India secured a medal at the Thomas Cup after a dominant 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals. Lakshya Sen, the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, and Ayush Shetty delivered strong performances to send India into the semi-finals

Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty and the doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty came up trumps as India registered a commanding 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei to storm into the semi-finals of the Thomas Cup on Friday.

11th-ranked Lakshya, who was trailing World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen for the better part of the contest, showed remarkable resilience to script an 18-21, 22-20, 21-17 win.

World No. 4 duo of Satwik and Chirag then beat Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Wang Chi-Lin 23-21, 19-21, 21-12 to give India a commanding 2-0 lead.

World No. 18 Ayush delivered the killer blow by comprehensively defeating World No. 8 and reigning All England champion Lin Chun-Yi 21-16, 21-17.
