MSSA girls U-14 hockey title: New Bombay City School thrashes Carmel 4–0

New Bombay City School (Panvel) stormed to a 4-0 victory over Carmel of St Joseph (Malad) to win the girls’ U-14 Fr Donelly Challenge Cup at the Dream Sports MSSA inter-school hockey tournament held at Don Bosco High School (Matunga). In the boys’ U-14 final, Don Bosco High School (Matunga) edged past St Stanislaus High School (Bandra) 1-0

New Bombay City School (Panvel) produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Carmel of St Joseph (Malad) 4-0 and clinch the girls U-14 Fr Donelly Challenge Cup in the Dream Sports Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) inter-school hockey tournament final at Don Bosco High School (Matunga) recently.

Kritika Singh scored the opener for New Bombay City in the second minute, with a quick finish into the bottom left corner.

Khushi Mandlik doubled their lead (9th min) with a smart strike from close range, before Sonakshi Nandikole added the third goal (13th min) after capitalising on a defensive lapse. Renuka Jagtap then added a fourth (19th min) as the Panvel school sealed an emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, Don Bosco High School (Matunga) clinched the boys U-14 St Andrew's League Cup, beating St Stanislaus High School (Bandra) 1-0 in the final recently.

The match was a closely contested affair, with chances few and far between as tackles were firm and passing lanes tightly marked. In the final minute of the match (40th), Don Bosco were awarded a penalty stroke, and Clyde Mendonca gleefully converted from the spot to help the Matunga school emerge victorious.
