Watching a crime show regarding a case of sexual abuse while their seven-year-old son was around led to a couple from the city being led to a shocking revelation: their former domestic help, a 17-year-old, had been sodomising their son for three months. The juvenile was arrested from Pune yesterday.

On Friday, while watching the show, which narrated the ordeal of a young boy who was molested by the domestic help of the house, the seven-year-old told his parents that a similar thing had happened to him.

He told his parents that their former domestic help, who was employed with them for three months — and had quit three months ago to go to his native place, Pune — used to sodomise him on the pretext of giving him a bath. The boy said the 17-year-old used to give him chocolates after that and asked him to keep mum.
The parents of the survivor lodged a complaint against the domestic help with the Bangur Nagar police the same day. In their complaint, the parents mentioned that they both work and had hired the 17-year-old to look after their son, who studies in Std III.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Crime Branch nabbed the accused from Pune yesterday and handed him over to the Bangur Nagar police. The boy has been charged under Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

“On Friday, the parents were watching a TV crime show, which depicted a similar case. That’s when the son told them about what had happened,” said Asst PI Manohar Harpure from Crime Branch Unit XI. “The accused used to take their son in the bathroom and while bathing, he sodomised him,” said Senior PI Chimaji Adao from the Crime Branch.
