In the new song of Indoo Ki Jawani, Dil Tera, Aditya Seal and Kiara Advani pay homage to Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore and a lot of other Bollywood icons, and make for a cute couple.

The legacy of the late Shammi Kapoor continues to live on. And film actors continue to pay homage to his legacy with their songs. Shahid Kapoor did that with his song Gustakh Dil from Dil Maange More, Ranbir Kapoor did that in a scene from his film Rockstar, and now Aditya Seal tries his hands with the new song of Indoo Ki Jawani, Dil Tera.
Giving him company is Kiara Advani, donning the look of Sharmila Tagore from the film Kashmir Ki Kali (1964). Both Seal and Advani are watching the film and suddenly go into an imaginative world, dancing their hearts out and looking adorable as a couple.

Not only Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore, the couple has also recreated the looks of Parveen Babi from Namak Halal (1982) and Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela (1995) as the couple move from one decade to the next. Sengupta collaborated with the film's stylist Sheetal Sharma to remain faithful to the eras.
For the uninitiated, Advani not only spearheads this film but also essays the eponymous character of Indoo, a girl whose heart belongs to the heartland but someone who also shows shades of the big city. She wants to be in a relationship, talks about sex to a man who has landed at her house for a Tinder date.

This man in question is Aditya Seal, who says he hails from Hyderabad and calls Kashmir Ki Kali his favourite film. But there's a catch, he's from Pakistan and has landed at the wrong house. This is Bajrangi Bhaijaan wrapped into Happy Bhaag Jayegi.
Director Abir Sengupta spoke about the film's theme and said, "The concept of dating has been changing with every passing generation. But we are in a time where right swipes allow you to meet so many people. There is gender equality as everyone can go ahead and find the right partner. I have come across many who have found their life partners on dating apps. But, at times, even right swipes can go wrong. So, one should take time before forming judgment about the other person," says the director as he roots for these apps. "I strongly believe in love and finding one's soulmate. Dating apps are a faster medium to find that person."
He added, "Releasing a film amid the current circumstances — when COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Delhi and curfews are being imposed in cities in Gujarat — involves significant risk. Isn't he worried that people may not step out of their houses for a film? "Honestly, it [bothers me]. Nothing is more important than human lives, and I am sure theatre owners are taking adequate measures to ensure the audience's safety. So, I hope people will step into the theatres like before."
