A 30-year-old tourist car driver was on Tuesday evening beaten up by locals at Jogeshwari in western Mumbai after a school girl accused him of molestation.

The accused, identified as Moharam Ali Mohammad Yusuf, was handed over to Jogeshwari police after 14-year-old girl's parents lodged an FIR against him for molesting her inside the car near Ismail Yusuf College.
On the day of incident, the minor was on her way home from school when the accused met her. He offered her to drop her which she accepted. He then took her to near Ismail Yusuf College and began touching her inappropriately.
The minor somehow managed to escape and after reaching home narrated the entire ordeal to her parents. Later, her parents along with their neighbours found Ali and began beating him before handing him over to the police.
According to senior Inspector Pradeep Kale, Jogeshwari police station, "The accused has been booked under section 354(a) 323, 506 of IPC and 4, 8 and 12 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offense Act (POCSOA). He was produced before the court and was remanded to Police Custody. Further investigations are still on."
