A constable was suspended after breaking windows, destroying plants and abusing staff in a drunk state. He also removed his uniform and danced in the premises. Vinod Tayde was posted in the escort team of the Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region), Pratap Dighavkar’s office. The incident took place on July 15, when he was suspended following a negative report.

On the day of the incident in the evening, Tayde came to the office drunk. A police officer present during the incident said, “Tayde was very loud and kept abusing people in the office. When staff asked him to calm down and leave, he abused them too. He was in uniform.”
Sources said he picked a stone and broke a few windows in the office. He also destroyed several small plants in the garden area. A police officer said, “There was no stopping Tayde. He also removed his uniform and threw it in the air. Tayde was dancing and making fun of others and kept abusing the department.”

After almost half an hour, Tayde was calmed by the cops and sent to JJ hospital for a medical test. In the medical test it was confirmed that he was highly drunk. An inquiry was initiated against Tayde which was submitted recently.
The report said, “Cops like Tayde destroy the image of cops in public and an example should be made out of him to teach people like him a lesson, so that it is not repeated in future.”
A constable from Malwani in May had created a similar ruckus on the streets after being drunk. mid-day had reported the incident, ‘Drunk cop terrorises Malwani, molests eunuch,’ (May 16) after which the constable was suspended.
