The deceased was identified as Rajesh Singh, owner of Khushbu Developers. He also ran the Trilokchand gas agency in the area. The incident took place at Sainath Nagar, Nallasopara (East), right outside Singh’s office. Two shooters on a bike went to his office at 10.30 am, waiting outside for him to enter the building.

However, they could not get a clear shot at him due to a crowd in the area. The shooters waited till around 11.30 am, when Singh emerged from the building, and immediately began firing shots at him. They fired several times, and two of the bullets hit Singh in the head. As he collapsed. Both the shooters fled the spot.

Singh was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead. According to the police, six bullets had been fired, of which only two hit Singh despite all of them being close-range shots fired from around 20 feet away. This suggests that the accused are not experienced shooters, cops said.

Sources said that the cops also suspect the shooting could have been the result of a business deal gone sour. A senior officer from the Nallasopara police station said, “The whole incident was captured on the CCTV. We will use the footage to try and nab the accused.”
