Last Thursday, a 28-year-old woman filed a complaint against a Jaipur-based businessman, who she met on a matrimonial site last year, for alleged rape.
The accused, Gurmeet Singh, who is twice her age, mentioned his age as 33 instead of 48 to the survivor. The two got chatting in June last year and the Borivli-based complainant had even flown to Jaipur to meet him.

They got close after she accepted his marriage proposal last year. In August, they went to Goa, but after she returned to Mumbai, he stopped answering her calls.
She lodged an FIR at Borivli police station. Police sources said, “We have registered a case under IPC Section 376 (for committing rape). A team will leave for Jaipur for investigations.”
